In the last 10 years or so, the City of Culver City has completely reinvented itself. This once undervalued 5 square mile pocket of real estate has become a lively, go-to destination for theatre buffs, foodies and art lovers, prompting the New York Times in 2007 to call it a “nascent Chelsea.” Shortly after it was incorporated in 1917, the film industry took note and the MGM Studios were built there in the 20s, now the home of Sony Pictures Entertainment. Since most of the city’s residential architecture has not changed in decades, many of the outdoor scenes of the nostalgic sitcom The Wonder Years were filmed in its neighborhoods. Culver City is just south of Mar Vista and north of Westchester with Venice and Playa Vista to the west.
